It Begins With One Smile

Let me share the first article of our internal manifesto: "It begins with one smile. We do not exist to change the world. We exist to make one person's life a little better. One smile changes a family; a family changes a community; communities change society; and when society changes, the world changes.

So we never chase only the grand — we cherish the one person in front of us." After all this series' talk of trillions and the world, this may look contradictory. It is a matter of sequence. Grand goals set the direction; the daily unit of work is always one person — one customer's skin, one child's match, one employee's growth.

A company careless with the one will never bring happiness to a million, because a million is the one, repeated a million times. Think big, work small and carefully. Who is the "one person" of your work today?
