The Mechanics of Attraction — Expectation, Attention, Action, Result

Asked whether I believe in the law of attraction, I answered: not as magic — but as a mechanism, with conviction. Let me disassemble it scientifically. First gear: self-fulfilling prophecy.

In a classic study, merely giving teachers the expectation that certain children would bloom was followed by those children's actual improvement — expectation changes treatment, treatment changes people, prophecy becomes fact. Second gear: the attention filter.

The brain discards torrents of information every second, keeping what you are searching for — buy a new car and the streets suddenly fill with the same model. A brain set to "opportunities exist" picks up opportunity; a brain set to "no use" collects only evidence of futility.

Third gear: volume of action — expectation multiplies attempts, and attempts multiply hits. Expectation, attention, action, results: "attraction" is the alias of these four gears. Not spirituality — mechanics.
