Shohei Ohtani — "No Precedent" Is Not a Reason Not To

To stand at the world's summit as both pitcher and hitter — until Shohei Ohtani made it real, modern baseball called it impossible. At his professional debut, experts openly questioned the two-way attempt: pick one, the body won't last, there is no precedent. He didn't pick.

Today he pitches, hits, and keeps rewriting history on the world's biggest stage. "No precedent" was never proof of impossibility — only that no one had seen it through.

As is widely known, in high school he drew a goal-achievement chart: a great central goal broken into surrounding elements — not just training and pitches, but a column for "luck," to be raised by picking up trash, greeting people, treating equipment with care.

He decomposed a dream into small daily actions, designing even luck with the hand that picks up litter — at eighteen. The challenge said to have no precedent is the emptiest road.
