One Trillion Yen is Not the Purpose

We hold a long-term vision of a one-trillion-yen market capitalization. Reactions split in two: those who laugh, "How grandiose," and those who ask, "Why one trillion?" To the latter I answer: one trillion is not the purpose — it is a declaration of scale. Our purpose is to bring joy, smiles, and gratitude to every person in the world.

If we mean "every person in the world" seriously, a small company physically cannot reach them. Delivering products worldwide, investing in research, building a town, leaving a culture — express the business scale required to see all of it through, and the digits come to a trillion.

Never reverse the order: we do not increase smiles for the trillion; we need a trillion-sized vessel to deliver smiles to the world. A goal's number should be back-calculated not from the size of ambition but from the range of mission. Is yours?
